Many small businesses look to government contracts as a way to expand or grow their business. While this can be a lucrative strategy, it does come with a unique set of challenges. There are many considerations a small business owner should address before taking the leap into government contracting.
The SBDC offices in Columbia and Lexington are able to provide consultations to businesses to determine if they are ready to take on government contracting. Once a business is positioned to actually start the process of working with the government, they will begin work with our Procurement Technical Assistance Center specialist, Scott Bellows.
Other resources also exist such as joint training classes with SBA procurement specialists and possible referrals to companies willing to provide their insight and expertise to new, inexperienced entrepreneurs.
If you are considering government contracting, watch our class schedule, or contact our offices to get more information on your next steps.
